Jeremy Setters
Welcome to my official website, where advocacy meets action in the heart of Nevada’s educational community.
First, let me explain what led me to run, I am a proud parent of three wonderful children, my two oldest attend West Tech, and LVA. My youngest is 4 years old and was enrolled in the districts KIDS program. Due to my sons difficult experience navigating being a nonspeaking autistic child in the schools, it led me and my wife to become avid advocates for those with different learning needs. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) devoted to making a tangible difference in the lives of at-risk youth and the broader educational landscape. My commitment is rooted in a blend of personal experiences and professional achievements, all of which fuel my mission to champion positive change within our schools.
My Mission
Championing Teacher Happiness for Student Success
My perspective on the importance of teacher happiness is shaped by a firm belief in its direct impact on student achievement. Research, including findings from the Journal of Educational Psychology, supports this connection, indicating that contented teachers lead to more effective and engaging classrooms. I advocate for comprehensive support for our educators, encompassing fair compensation, professional development, and a nurturing work environment, as the cornerstone of a thriving educational system.
Prioritizing Cybersecurity to Protect Our Students
In an era where digital platforms are integral to education, the privacy and safety of our students’ information are paramount. My experience underscores the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures within our schools. By advocating for increased funding, comprehensive data protection policies, and a culture of cybersecurity awareness, I aim to safeguard our students’ academic integrity and personal privacy.
Upholding Children’s Rights in Education
The delicate balance between religious freedom and LGBTQ+ rights in our schools is a challenge I approach with deep empathy and commitment to inclusivity. I stand for creating an environment where every child feels valued and protected, emphasizing the importance of education and awareness to foster a community that embraces diversity and respects all perspectives.
Advancing Special Education and IEP Programs
My dedication to enhancing the support for children within the Special Education IEP program is unwavering. These students require tailored care to succeed, and I champion increased resources, continuous staff training, and an adaptive support system to ensure they can thrive alongside their peers, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect within our educational system.
Elevating Clark County’s Education
Improving educational outcomes in Clark County necessitates a commitment to evidence-based strategies. My vision includes implementing data-driven instruction, professional development for teachers, leveraging technology for engagement, and encouraging parental and community involvement. Through collaborative efforts, we can transform our education system for the betterment of all students.
