Meet Jeremy Setters

Jeremy Setters

Hi there, I’m Jeremy Setters, a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) deeply committed to helping at risk youth in Nevada. My journey into the world of mental health advocacy has been both personal and professionally rewarding. Before starting my own practice, I spent ten years leading a local mental health agency where I oversaw a team of over 20 colleagues and reached out to thousands of children, offering them hope and guidance.

Having strong ties to the vibrant Las Vegas community, I am proud to be a graduate of Sierra Vista High School, class of 2004. My connection to this city is shared with my wife, Jennifer, an alumna of Rancho High School and a first generation Hispanic American. Together, we navigate the joys and challenges of our blended family, which includes three amazing children each on their own unique paths. Our family experiences have not only enriched our lives but have also motivated me to advocate for positive changes in our educational system.

Our oldest child is currently a senior at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and embodies determination and creativity in all they do. Our middle child, who is a junior at West Technical High School, embodies the importance of innovation in shaping the future. Our youngest child, getting ready to enter the school district, has already demonstrated incredible resilience and progress, embarking on his journey in the KIDS program designed for autistic youth.

Sharing these personal stories of my family’s experiences, especially in navigating the challenges of a blended household and embracing our diverse cultural background, has significantly influenced how I view the different needs within our school community. These stories serve as a constant reminder of the power of understanding and acceptance, motivating me to advocate for a system that values and supports each individual student and staff member.

While striving to engage with the district from a clinical standpoint, I initially faced difficulties finding my voice within the existing frameworks. However, this obstacle only strengthened my resolve to find a platform where I could truly make an impact. Deciding to run for the board is not merely a choice—it signifies my commitment to being a voice for those who may feel marginalized or unheard.

I recognize that I am not flawless. Like many others, my journey has been marked by moments of learning and personal growth. Nevertheless, it is these very experiences that lead me to believe that I am well equipped for this role at this particular juncture.

Our society isn’t looking for flawlessness; what it craves is commitment, empathy and the courage to advocate for what truly matters—the welfare and achievements of our students and the amazing educators who devote their lives to educating and mentoring them.

I appreciate you investing your time to understand me, my goals and my aspirations for a tomorrow where every student and teacher is respected, listened to and backed. Together, we can steer through the intricacies of our education system to cultivate a more united and inclusive community for everyone.
